We have all heard that “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” Research shows that eating breakfast helps jumpstart your day mentally and physically, mind and body. Some research even shows that, by having a good breakfast, it actually helps to keep you from gaining weight. I find it very interesting that by first giving your physical body a section of time for nourishment, its helps get your body and mind off to a better start of the day.
In Malachi 3:10, God shows us that we are to give a tithe to the church and He will pour out a blessing on us. God commands each of us to give tithes to Him. A tithe is giving a part of what we have to God first, before we use it for other things. This includes not just gifts to God of your money, but of your time and effort as well. Realize that when you give tithe to God, it helps not just the physical church, the building, but the body of Christ, the people of God at that church. So when you give your tithes, you are really giving them to God to help His kingdom. Now that you know that the tithe you give to God is not just the first part of your money but of your time as well, then shouldn’t you tithe to God from the first part of your time every day?
I find that by giving the first moments of my day unto God in prayer, who blessed me with another day to live in the first place, my day is far better spiritually. What I mean is that, since I have started the day off right by giving of my first moments of time unto God out of that day, I become more focused and stay continually talking with God throughout the day. I am obeying 1 Thessalonians 5:17, which says, “Pray continually.” By talking more consistently with God, I then rely on Him for help more quickly when temptations to sin come; this, in turn, helps me to sin less, and that, my friends is something we all desire to accomplish!
Focus Verse: Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! Malachi 3:10 (NLT)
