What are you going to do for Christmas? (Allow response.) (Change the question to What did you do for Christmas? if doing this after the holiday. Adapt the rest dialog in the same way where needed.) It sounds like you have a busy schedule planned. Here’s another question. What do you want for Christmas? That’s too much for me to remember. Let me take some notes. (Make a list of the presents wanted with a pencil on the Dissolvo Paper.) Wow, what a list! These sound like some really neat gifts. (Now tell of a gift you received when you were younger and how it’s gone now.) That could happen to your gifts as well someday. (Put the paper into the glass. Place it where everyone can see it and fill the glass with water. Swirl it around some to dissolve the paper more quickly.) Your present can be gone just that quick. Why is that? Well, it’s because all of these presents are things that belong to this temporary world. The Bible says, that the world and its desires pass away. All of these things you desire will pass away. So what can we count on that will last? Do you remember the other question I asked you? I asked about what you are going to do. Did you know that if you do the will of God that you can plan on lasting forever? That’s right. The rest of that verse says that the man who does the will of God lives forever. It’s really nice to receive gifts at Christmas, but let’s remember that these gifts won’t last. Only God is eternal. If we serve Him and follow Him this season, then we can count on living eternally with God. (Pray)
