1 Sam 2:26 And the boy Samuel continued to grow in stature and in favor with the LORD and with men.
1 Sam 3:10 The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, Samuel! Samuel! Then Samuel said, Speak, for your servant is listening.
    (NIV)

    Dear friends,

One recent Sunday morning, I challenged the boys and girls in my service to LISTEN to God.

During the praise and worship time I instructed them to find a place in the sanctuary to be alone with the Lord. We continued with I Give You My Heart, but I told the boys and girls to get alone and not sing the song, but pray the words to the Lord.

Then, just listen. Boys and girls were scattered allover our Kids Church sanctuary. Some at the altar, others on their knees around the room and some on their faces while others buried their faces in their laps.

After the song was over and they boys and girls went back to their seats, I asked if anyone had heard from the Lord. Hands went up all over the room. After asking them to stand, I brought them to the platform and asked them to share what God had said to them.

It was truly a blessing! Be nice to my brother, etc., were common, but the three that were the most precious were from a first grade boy, a first grade girl and a second grade boy.

The first grade boy shared that God told him that when he was grown, he was to build houses for the poor!

The first grade girl said she was told to be a missionary!

And the second grade boy said the Lord thanked him for praising Him and Worshipping Him.

I share this because I’m just as guilty as the next when it comes to listening to God. We all allow the pressures of the day stand between the Lord and us.

Also, I share this because I know that the Lord desires to move in the hearts and lives of the boys and girls we minister to. The depth of that movement can be inhibited by what WE believe the Lord can do in those children.

As Randy Christensen once said to me I dare to believe. I dare to believe that the Lord can and will and wants to speak and move through our kids.

I pray this blesses and challenges you!
