Program Night
Bud; I made it! I finally made it home. For awhile there it was touch and go. I got home and remember I entered that contest and if I could find nice people I would get $100.00. Well I got my money. (sighs) It’s just that I feel so empty. Why do I feel this way? (droops his head)
Moe; (singing) Thank you Lord for saving my soul…… Hi. Are you all right?
Bud; Hi, yea, sure, fine.
Moe; Sometimes when I’m sad it helps to tell someone.
Bud; You see I just got back from this trip and each day I had to land on a different island. I met all these natives who looked exactly alike, they even had names that sounded alike.
Moe; That sounds fun. So whats the trouble?
Bud; Well each one talked about god, and either love or joy, or faithfulness, and now I wish I could find out how they got all that.
Moe; Hey you’re not talking about Razz, Spaz ,Jazz,Pazz,Bazz, Hazz, Tazz, Gazz and Mazz are you?
Bud; Don’t tell me another cousin and your name is Zazz.
Moe; Well I am a cousin but my name is Moe.
Bud; How come your name is different?
Moe; By the time I was born they were tired of azz names.
Bud; Then maybe you could tell me how to fill this empty feeling inside?
Moe; All you have to do is ask Jesus to come into your heart.
Bud; Are you sure he is going to want me? I mean I do come from Yucksville and I don’t know how to be nice or anything.
Moe; God wants you. He loves you. He loves you so much that He died on the cross for your sins. And when He rose again an the third day He made it possible for you to ask Him to come in your heart and wipe all your sins away.
Bud; That seems so easy. All I have to do is ask Him in my heart and He comes in?
Moe; Yes that ‘s all.
Bud; What about all that love joy, peace and stuff, that Razz, Gazz, and so on talked about?
Moe; You mean the fruit of the spirit.
Bud; The what of the what?
Moe; In the Bible there is a verse. Galatians 5:22-23. It says But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,and self-control. Against this there is no law.
Bud; Right, I got it. (says it sarcastically) Now in English.
Moe; It means that when we have Jesus in our hearts that produces fruit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Bud; What if you don’t get these?
Moe; The fruit comes from God. He gives it and helps us to use it.
Bud; That’s what I want. How do I ask?
Moe; Why don’t we pray together. Ok?
