You can make a big cutout (5×5 or bigger) of any object that represents the verse. For eg. Matt 3:17 -Then a voice said from heaven, This is my own dear Son, with whom I am well pleased. Make a cutout of a dove on white card sheet and fold it in half just for the marking and write the verse on it. You could even punch a hole at the tail end and tie a satin ribbon.

Bring the dove out when it appears in the story and tell them what it signifies. Then teach them the memory verse. Those who can reproduce it get a smaller version(3×3) of it as a reward. Others the next Sunday when they say it.

Works wonderfully. When you just show the dove the next Sunday or even after a few weeks too, the children associate the verse with the object and can remember the verse.

    Other egs:

    1) Psalm 4:8 – A star with a cute face on one of the sides and the verse on the other. For the story when baby Jesus and family had to run away from Bethlehem to Egypt by night(Matt 2:13-23).

    2) An open Bible for the ‘Temptation of Jesus’ (Luke 4:1-15)
