Music Intro

Narrator: Jabez was more honorable than his brothers.

Brother 1: Hey let’s go down town and start some trouble. Are you coming Jabez?

Jabez: No. I don’t think we should be troublemakers. God wouldn’t like…..

Brother 2: You are such a sissy Jabez!

Brother 1: Yeah, just stay home and suck your thumb! You’re just a big pain anyway. C’mon let’s go. (Brothers Leave)

Narrator: His mother had named him Jabez, saying, "I gave birth to him in pain."

Jabez: Mom! Mom!

Mom: (mom comes on stage) Yes dear what is it?

Jabez: Why did you name me Jabez? Why not George or Harry or Clifford?

Mom: Your name is Jabez because I went through allot of pain to have you. Let me tell you, having kids is no picnic. Nine months of back breaking work and labor…

Jabez: Oh…Ok mom. (Mom leaves)

Narrator: Jabez cried out to the God of Israel,

Jabez: "Oh God, I pray that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I may be free from pain. Amen. (Jabez Leaves)

Narrator: And God granted his request.
