Born Again – 2 Puppet Skit

Cast: Anna Mae and Clementine
Scene: Livingroom
Props: None
AM: I’ve got some serious questions for you today.
C: Now come on Anna Mae, I didn’t know you could EVER be serious!!!
AM: I was at church this week and my teacher was talking about "being born again". Immediately, I said to her, "You can’t be born again!" I was already a baby once, how could I become a baby again?
C: I don’t think she was talking about you becoming a baby again. All those dirty diapers and crying and all that stuff–no way.
AM: Well, what did she mean?
C: Have you ever taken a bath before?
AM: Tarnation!! What kind of a question is that? Of course I’ve taken a bath before!! I take one once a month, whether I need it or not!!!
C: That explains a lot. It looks like you could use one now, but anyway, let’s get back to the bath idea. When you take a bath you use soap and water to get yourself clean. So, before you got into the bath water you were dirty and when you came out you were clean!!! That’s it!!
AM: What do you mean, "that’s it"?
C: Yep, that’s it! When Jesus died on the cross for our sins, he took all of our sins away. It’s just like being in the bath tub!! Jesus has cleaned us up!! And the bible calls that "being born again". Isn’t that awesome?
AM: So, I really can’t become a baby again. But I can be born again, because Jesus died for me on the cross and took away my sins…actually he threw me in the tub and cleaned me up!!
C: Well (PAUSE), I guess you could put it that way.
AM: Well, my daddy used to do that to me when I was a little kid. I would be so dirty, he would have to wear gloves and…
(THEY START TO EXIT AND CLEMENTINE SAYS THE NEXT LINE ON THE WAY OUT)
C: Okay, Okay, I get the idea. Actually, you kind of smell a little bit now. Why DON’T YOU take a bath?
