LESSON 12: Best Friends
Activity: Friends Help
Materials:
o One Balloon for every 2 Children
Divide children into pairs. Tell the pairs that they are to be friends for this activity and help one another. The friends help each other keep their balloon in the air! Tell the children that today’s Bible story is about two very special friends named David and Jonathon.
Lesson: Best Friends
Materials:
o A copy of the story of David & Jonathon
o crown
o tree picture
o picture of David & Jonathon
Read the story to the children, using the props to help tell it. When you mention a king, put on the crown. When you talk about David hiding in the forest, hide your face behind the tree picture. When you tell about David meeting Jonathon, show the picture of them, etc. Let the children retell the story when you’re done!
Craft: Friendship Bracelets
Materials:
o Toilet Paper Rolls (one for every 2 children)
o Scissors for the Teacher
o Markers, Crayons, & Stickers
Cut a toilet paper roll in half cross-wise, then in half again. You should have 4 rings. Slit each ring so that you can place it on your wrist. Let kids decorate them with crayons, stickers & markers! Give each child 2~ one for himself and one to share with a friend!
Craft: Placemats
Materials:
o Magazines, 1 per child
o Scissors, 1 per child
o Construction Paper, 1 per child
o Glue
o Clear Contact Paper, cut in rectangles to fit construction paper
Make place mats by letting kids cut pictures of food out of magazines and glue them on construction paper. Cover them with clear contact paper.
Craft/Music Activity
Materials:
o Large Craft Sticks, 2 per child
o Party Streamers
o Masking Tape or Colored Electrical Tape
o Music (Tape Player and Cassette Tape, etc.)
Make rhythm streamers to play with to music- tape party streamers onto large craft sticks and let children play with them while music plays!
