Does God Yawn?

Text (Psalm 121:3-6) He won’t let you stumble, your Guardian God won’t fall asleep. Not on your life! Israel’s Guardian will never doze or sleep. God’s your Guardian, right at your side to protect you. Shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moonstroke. (A Pilgrim Song) (The Message-Eugene H. Peterson)

Thought starters
How are you this morning? I always wanted to know, do any of you get bored in church?

You don’t fall asleep do you? Do you yawn in church? I saw a few of you this morning and some of the older people too! I hope it’s out of your system now.

The dictionary tells us the meaning of the word "Yawn." To open the mouth wide, usually involuntarily (your muscles do it with out you helping), as a result of sleepiness or boredom.

Since we’re all in church, I wonder, does God yawn? Is God always awake? Does God need sleep? How do we know that?

The Bible teaches us in Psalm 121 "He won’t let you stumble, your Guardian God won’t fall asleep. Not on your life! Israel’s Guardian will never doze or sleep (yawn?). God’s your Guardian, right at your side to protect you.

Even in church? God is right at your side protecting you, maybe wishing you to be more awake.

Remember God is right at your side and loves you more than anything else. The Bible tells us so.

Hymn-"Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above" – Johann Schutz

Prayer- Dear God, Thank you for being right by our side and for your protection. For watching over us when we are asleep and you’re not. Amen
