The Jesus Code

Text- (Luke 11:9-10) "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. (New International Version)

Thought starters
Are you having a good summer? Do you have lots of fun things to do? I noticed there are things to do both inside and outside. Even on rainy days there are games to play inside. I even see cereal boxes with games in them. There are puzzles that want you to find letters that make you figure out a secret code. Crackerjack boxes even have decoder rings. Is it fun for kids to decode things? Is that why there are so many secret code games?

There are even best selling books that are about secret codes.

Did you know that Peter told Luke a story about Jesus when he gave out a special code to the disciples? In chapter 10 verse 9 Jesus says, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

The code Jesus gives the disciples and us is to keep praying. God doesn’t always give us what we think we need. Jesus opens the code to us to keep trying. Ask and you’ll get, seek and you’ll find; knock and the door will open.

It’s more important that any secret code. More important the remembering the unlock code of your car or truck. This code opens up with prayer.

Let’s use the code now. Let’s pray.

Hymn-"I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say" ¾ Henry Vander Werp
