Are you ready for school to end? Just a couple of weeks left. It seems that summers are so busy and I don’t get to see you as often. So,I thought I would talk about a summer project for you. It’ not going to be too hard.

I would like you to tell me about a random act of kindness you did for someone. I will give you two examples of acts of kindness.

Do you know when a person in a wheelchair goes to Disney World, Cedar Point, or Michigan’s Adventure (put in your own examples) they get to go to the front of the line at every ride? That is an act of kindness the theme parks do for people who have certain disabilities.

I have heard of people in restaurants buying a dinner for a family and the family never found out who paid for their dinner. That is a random act of kindness, or a surprise act of kindness.

John tells us about Jesus healing someone as a random act of kindness. (Tell the story from John 5:1-9)

How long had that man been unable to walk? Thirty-eight years. What did Jesus say to heal him?

"Get up! Pick up your mat and walk."

Jesus asked him, "Do you want to get well?"

Did Jesus surprise him? Yes, his random act of kindness, healing this man who had been unable to walk for thirty-eight years.

You can do random acts of kindness too! Surprise someone, maybe a friend in need, a brother or sister, or maybe your parents. You don’t have to be thanked. That might be nice. Sometimes the shock of one doing something so kind is enough.

I will tell you when I do random acts of kindness to others. I would like it if you would tell me about yours too! Let’s pray about it.
