With the better weather outside have you been playing outside more? What about at school? What kind of games do you play?

I remember when the weather was nicer and gym class was outside. I remember the teacher or coach picking two people to be captains and for them to pick from the rest of us. It was always pretty cool to be one of the first ones picked. I know it isn’t nice to be the last one picked. Everyone is talented in different ways.

If you were lucky whether you were good or bad you might be picked to be the captain. Do you pick your friends or do you want to win?

John tells us that the third time Jesus appeared to the disciples after the resurrection he was questioning Simon Peter. Jesus asked him two times did Peter love him? The third time, Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him again. When Peter answered, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep."

Jesus was testing Simon Peter because Jesus knew he was going to rely on Peter to be the team captain when Jesus went into heaven. Peter was being picked by Jesus to lead other nine disciples and the other followers of Jesus. He was going to be the first leader of the church.

Just before He died, Jesus tested Peter and Peter failed because he denied he even knew Jesus. Would Peter have made a good captain then? But Jesus retested Peter, just like he retests us.

Are you a captain on Jesus’ team?

Jesus has a special plan for each one of you. You might be a teacher, leader, or something else special. Jesus has already left instructions through Peter for all of us. He said to Peter, "Feed my sheep."

Prayer Dear Lord, Thank you for choosing Peter as a rock to build your church on. Choose us also to help feed your sheep. Amen
