Mark 4:35-41

ASSIGN PARTS: Person # 1, Person # 2, Narrator, Peter, Andrew, James, John, other disciples on boat.

Person # 1: Wow! There’s a lot of people here today!

Person # 2: I want to hear every word Jesus says. Let’s try and get closer to Him.

Narrator: Jesus was teaching on the shore of the Sea of Galilee. The crowd was large. He taught the people all day. When it became dark, He said to His disciples, “Let’s go to the other side of the lake so we can rest.”

Peter: John, James, Andrew — help me get the boat ready.

Narrator: Jesus and all the other disciples climbed in the boat. Soon they were headed to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was so tired that He went to the back of the boat and lay down. Before long He was sound asleep.

John: Look at those clouds over there.

James: The wind sure is getting stronger.

Andrew: The sky is getting dark.

Peter: Clouds seem to be gathering.

James: The wind is blowing harder and harder.

John: The waves are getting larger and larger.

Andrew: The boat is rocking and pitching.

Peter: Storms like this don’t usually come at night here on the lake.

John: Yeah, I know! The thunder is roaring!

James: Water is splashing into the boat!

Andrew: Guys, I don’t mind admitting, I’m scared!

Peter: Me, too!

James: Where’s Jesus?

John: Maybe He can do something!

Andrew: He’s still asleep!

Peter: Well, wake Him up! We’re going to drown!

Narrator: Jesus sat up. He saw the dark clouds and lightning. He heard the thunder. He felt the boat rocking. He saw how afraid His disciples were. Then Jesus stood up and spoke to the wind and waves. “Be still,” He said. Right away the wind stopped blowing. The dark clouds went away. The sea became still. Jesus looked at His friends. “Why were you so afraid? He asked them. “Didn’t you know I would take care of you?”

James: Who is this man?

Andrew: Even the winds and the waves obey Him.

Peter: He must be the Son of God!
