Text (Luke 24:12) But Peter jumped to his feet and ran to the tomb. He stooped to look in and saw a few grave clothes, that’s all. He walked away puzzled shaking his head. (The Message -Eugene H. Peterson)
Happy Easter Sunday! Peter jumped to his feet and ran to the tomb. He stooped to look in and saw a few grave clothes, that’s all. He walked away puzzled shaking his head. Happy Easter Peter!
Peter didn’t know what to think. What happened? Something has changed and I can’t figure it out. What will I do? What will I say to the others? The shock was setting in.
Do you every watch the show “Extreme Makeover?” Some weeks it’s on early. Every week some person who is too fat or has bad teeth, bad vision, bad hair or some type of problem with some part of their body gets the “Extreme Makeover.” The “Extreme Team” of the nations top plastic surgeons, eye surgeons and cosmetic dentists, along with a team of hair and makeup artists, stylists and personal trainers help people make their wish come true, not just to change their looks, but their lives and destinies, so they say. Over ten thousand people have applied.
The most enjoyable part of the show is when each person they help has the “Unveiling” of their new body in front of their family and friends. Who always scream with joy, excitement, and shock at the person’s new body. Someone is always crying with happiness, usually the person who had the makeover. There is always someone who is puzzled shaking his or her head.
Peter walked away puzzled shaking his head. He had heard about God’s Extreme Makeover and wanted to see for himself.
God sent an angel for the “climactic unveiling. “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”
Matthew said the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid and yet full of joy and ran to tell the disciples. (Including Peter) Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him clasped his feet and worshiped him.
Do you think the look on the women’s face was one of joy, excitement, and shock? Do you think they might have cried with happiness?
God had just given the world the “Ultimate Extreme Makeover” raising Jesus from the dead.
Televisions version of “Extreme Makeover” is in its second season. God’s Extreme Makeover is celebrating over two thousand years.
