Special Invitation – 2nd Sunday after Christmas
Want to Tell Somebody?
Text (Matthew 2:11) On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh. (New International Version)

Happy New Year! Are you ready to go back to school tomorrow? I didn’t think so. Just think you can see all your friends again. Find out what they received for Christmas. Tell them what you received.
All of you must have lots of friends. If each one of you had a special birthday party and your mom and dad said you could bring one person who would it be? It can’t be a brother, sister, grandparent, or anyone from church. Who is that special one person from school or play that would be your special guest? (If one answers, Jesus, say he is already here.)
There is a special birthday we are celebrating. The birthday of Jesus. If we were so eager to invite that special friend to our party, why wouldn’t we invite them to the biggest celebration?
We are only beginning to hear the many stories about Jesus. It would be great to bring your friend or friends here.
If they also go to church, invite them here, and return the favor and visit their church.
If all of you brought that special friend, it would be the most important birthday celebration you could invite them to. They would hear about the birth of Jesus, just like the wise men who followed the star and found Jesus.
Coming to church allows all of us to open the treasures that God has in store for us.
