It’s Your Lucky Day!

Text (Mark 10:49-52) Jesus stopped in his tracks. "Call him over." They called him. "It’s your lucky day! "Get up! He’s calling you to come!" Throwing off his coat, he was on his feet at once and came to Jesus. Jesus said, "What can I do for you?" The blind man said Rabbi, I want to see." "On your way," said Jesus. "Your faith has saved and healed you." In that very instant he recovered his sight and followed Jesus down the road. (The Message-Eugene Peterson)

Thought Starters
A popular story in the New Testament is the healing of the blind man named Bartimaeus.

(Read or tell the story from the text beginning with verse 46)

Was Bartimaeus in the right place as Jesus left Jericho? What did the disciples say to Bartimaeus? "It’s your lucky day!" Not only was Bartimaeus healed, he followed Jesus along the road. His faith healed him.

What would we do if the disciples were coming down the aisles here at church walking up to you children saying, "It’s your lucky day!" "Get up! He’s calling you to come!" Whether they were shouting it from the balcony or coming down in between the pews. Each Sunday you need to be thinking "It’s my special day!" He’s calling me to come!" It’s time for me to listen to what Jesus is teaching me today.

Jesus loves you more than anything else, and wants you to follow him along the road.
