Thought Starters
We talked last week about following God’s Commandments and giving to the poor. Is it possible for us to think that we are so good that we are automatically going to heaven?
It can be a "look where I get to go and you don’t" kind of bragging thing with some of us.
Where do I get to sit that you don’t. I think I have something that all of you don’t have yet. (Pull out your Drivers License) Will you get one when you get older? Will it be easy or hard for you to get one? Will you be a good driver? Will you have a passenger in the car always telling you how to drive?
When you are able to drive state law makes you have something called insurance. Insurance is paying money each month to protect you if you get in an accident, whether you or another driver causes it. If you do get into an accident your insurance company pays to have your car or truck fixed.
Now let’s check the congregation. How many of you in the congregation have a Drivers license? Raise your hand. Now raise your hand if you feel you are such a great driver that you don’t need to have insurance.
You see there are no guarantees. Jesus when asked by James and John if they could sit next to him in heaven, Jesus replied, "You don’t know what you are asking."
When a police officer pulls you over he or she will ask you for your Drivers license and proof of insurance.
When you get to heaven, Jesus may ask you, did you take turns with others, help others with their schoolwork, listen to others, and love one another including the poor? Jesus loves us; we’re getting something we really don’t deserve.
