Want to Tell Somebody?

Text- (Ephesians 4:25b, 28a, 29a, 32) Tell your neighbor the truth. In Christ’s body we’re all connected to each other, after all. When you lie to others, you end up lying to yourself. Did you used to make ends meet by stealing? Well, no more! Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say what only helps, each word is a gift. Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you. (The Message-Eugene Peterson)

Are you ready to go back to school?

I see and hear Back to School commercials all over the place, it must be getting close.

Isn’t it fun to go to the store and buy supplies for school?

It’s nice to get new things for school, pencils, paper, erasers, clothes, shoes, and other items.

The Apostle Paul reminds us of some other school supplies that you can’t buy in the store but are as or more important than the other supplies you need.

He says in his letter to the Ephesians to "Tell your neighbor the truth." It makes sense not to lie to other kids in school.

He also reminds us not to take things from others, it belongs to them and to take it is stealing. Maybe you could borrow the item or share items with one another.

Paul also says to ‘Watch the way you talk. Let nothing foul or dirty come out of your mouth. Say only what helps, each word is a gift." Each word is a gift, and gifts are things we do in kindness.

He reminds us also to "Forgive one another as quickly and thoroughly as God in Christ forgave you.

Tell the truth, don’t take things that don’t belong to you, speak kindly to each other and forgive one another.

Now we’re ready to go back to school!
