Back To School?

Text- (Mark 6:34) When Jesus arrived, he saw this huge crowd. At the sight of them, his heart broke-like sheep with no shepherd they were. He went right to work teaching them. (Eugene H. Peterson-The Message)

Thought starters
It’s almost time for those “Back to School” commercials. Are you ready to go back to school?

Summer goes by so quickly. By late August it’s time to go back to school.

Do you know who your teachers will be? Could they be getting ready to go to work teaching you? Or will they enjoy more of their summer before they get ready?

Jesus was often called a “Teacher.” He is also called “The Good Shepherd.” In fact they called him “Rabbi” which means “Teacher” in Hebrew.

Mark tells us in one verse how Jesus never went very long without teaching. (Read Mark 6:34)

Like sheep with no shepherd, he went right to work teaching them.

That verse reminds us of how important being a teacher in church is. How we need to appreciate not only our teachers in school, but also here in church. All leaders and helpers in church should have Marks’ words as their guide, “He went right to work teaching them.”

If I were you I would be excited about returning to His school this fall.

Hymn-“Teach Me, O Lord, they way of Truth” – Joseph P. Holbrook

Prayer- Dear Lord, Thank you for being our shepherd and teacher, help us see sheep without a shepherd to bring to your house. Amen
