Text- (Romans 8: 15b-17a) It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike "What’s next, Papa?" God’s spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we are: Father and children. (New International Version)

    Thought starters
Harry Chapin was a singer-song writer and he wrote a song in the 1970s called "Cats in the Cradle."

The first verse is this, A child arrived just the other day, he came to the world in the usual way, but there were planes to catch and bills to pay, he learned to walk while I was away and he was talkin’ before I knew it and as he grew he said: I’m going to be like you dad, you know I’m gonna to be like you.

Then the boy grows up in the second verse, My son turned ten just the other day, he said, Thanks for the ball Dad come on let’s play, Can you teach me to throw, I said not today, I got a lot to do he said that’s ok.

In the final verse the young boy is all grown up, I’ve long since retired, my son’s moved away I called him up just the other day. I said, I’d love to see you if you don’t mind, he said I’d love to dad if I could find the time. You see my new job’s a hassle and the kids got the flu but it’s been sure nice talkin’ to you, yeah sure nice talkin’ to you.

The story that Harry Chapin weaves in his song is quite real. Life goes by quickly. Our earthly fathers can get busy and it may seem that there’s not time to do everything you want to do. It’s nice for both the child and the father to spend time together. Your heavenly father always has time to listen to you, no matter how old you are, we are all his children.

Try this, the next time you pray to your heavenly father close with It’s been sure nice talkin’ you Father.

Paul tells us in the book of Romans that it’s expected of us to greet God in prayer with "What’s next, Papa?" After all, we are children and God is our Father.

Hymn-"This is my Fathers world" – Franklin L. Sheppard

Prayer-What’s next Father, thank you for all you do for us, for our earthly fathers, and for our time together. It’s been sure nice talkin’ to you Father. Amen
