Text-(John 15:5) "I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (New International Version)

    Thought starters
John reports to us in the New Testament. (read John 15:5)Jesus is the vine, we are the branches, and you are little sprouts. This is a picture of a grape vine. (showing them) There are many types of grape vine. For example concord are made into jelly, others are left to shrivel and become sweet raisins. Others are delicately cultivated and nurtured to produce grapes that will eventually become wine. Some grape vines, can be hundreds of years old. A special cutting (shears cutting the vine) of a much older branch of vine, now these new sprouts are highly sought after because they will produce fine fruit.John also reports, that Jesus also said, "No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."No little sprout can bear fruit alone, but by keeping Jesus in your heart you will bear the fruit that he tends in you.

Hymn-"O God in Whom All Life Begins" – Carl P. Daw Jr.Prayer- Lord, you are the vine and we are the branches, make us little sprouts to grow in service to you and to others. Amen

Props-Picture of a grape vine (Internet), a cutting shears, and a piece of vine.
