This is a portion of a prayer God placed on my heart for the children and families of our church during a special family prayer meeting.

Heavenly Father, our children are the very center of Your heart and You have entrusted to us the privilege and the responsibility to lead them into a relationship where You are the very center of theirs.

As we look into the eyes of our children we discover the very vibrancy of life itself. We recognize the importance for them to enjoy and experience all the wonders of life which You have created for them. But we would fall short should we not provide for them the opportunity to find fullness of life through knowing the One who gave them life.

Create in us, O Lord, new hearts and right spirits as those of a child. For it is through the eyes and spirit of a child that we truly enter into the kingdom of Heaven as Jesus said, “Let the children come to Me, for this is what the kingdom of heaven is like.”

Let our spirits be renewed in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers.

We also commit ourselves to Your word which encourages us to tell the next generation of the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, of His power, and of the wonders He has done. (Ps. 78:4)

Lord God, it is declared in Your Holy Word that our children, our sons and our daughters, will prophesy. Your Holy Spirit will move upon them and through them.

You have placed great authority into our hands to bind and loose here on this earth in the name of Jesus. So, we bind the attacks and deceptions of the evil one. We bind and cast away every wicked thought and distraction that comes against our children. We loose and release the supernatural power and protection of God Almighty upon their lives. We release the anointing of the Holy Spirit on them and proclaim that they shall lead us and fulfill the very promises of Your Holy Word, “for a little child will lead us.”

The boundaries have fallen in pleasant places for us and You have blessed us with a rich and abundant inheritance in our children. We commit ourselves to invest into this inheritance as we look forward with great hope for all You have prepared for them.
