Taking It Into The Streets

This is an idea I hope to put into action very soon — Take a small camper or trailer (someone in your congregation may have one they want to give away!) and turn it into a traveling puppet stage. In the warm months, take the mobile puppet theater into neighborhoods around your church. Simply open the stage, do a puppet performance for the kids on the street. Follow-up with free snow cones or popsicles and an invitation to church! I think this is a great way to get the kids’ attention. After visiting the neighborhoods several times you can also start establishing relationships with the kids and maybe even their parents!

A Night with Puppets

This is an outreach tool that I thought of, because all kids (and adults) love puppets.
Put on a puppet show for your town, set the stage up down on the main street. Have people do a couple of action songs to get the crowd interested and then bring out the puppets. You can do skits, jokes and even songs. I like to use Righteous Pop Music as many people identify with the tunes. Have a sausage sizzler as well and sell sausages for $1Have popcorn popping, donuts frying, drinks selling and have a really fun night. by Lami Hamood
