Children’s Ministry Christmas Drama

Children’s Ministry Christmas Drama

Thought about how I could do something different that the adults could minister to the children and then also involve the children. I feel like the Lord is leading me in the following:

(Stage is dark and the narrator reads the following)
In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. And everyone went to their own town to register.
So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

The Bait, The Tools, The Anointing

The Bait, The Tools, The Anointing

Here’s an idea from Billy Burns to store away for next year’s Easter!!!

What a weekend. In our three weekend services, we had hundreds of boys and girls who were given the opportunity of a lifetime … the privilege to have Jesus become the Lord of their lives. We had all of the ingredients ready for the weekend, the bait, the tools, and the anointing.

The Bait … We had so many visitors that came to see and enjoy something that they wouldn’t see at any other church in our area, » I want to read more! »

What’s Up With Easter?
Connecting Generations

Connecting Generations

I am the preschool director of a medium sized church in NC. We have a large group of children (ages birth-teens) attending. Each age group is active among themselves, but they hardly ever do things together. For our children’s Easter party this year, we are hosting the whole group, but in differing capacities. I have asked that the youth monitor and participate in the games with the younger children, I have also put them in charge of the hiding and hunting of eggs. » I want to read more! »

Wacky Tacky Banquet

Wacky Tacky Banquet

Every year around Valentine’s day, we have a Wacky Tacky Banquet. The food is breakfast at supper time, the clothes can be mis-matched, backwards, inside-out, etc., and the decorations are every holiday including Valentine’s day, and birthdays. The kids love it because the adult volunteers take their orders like a real restaurant and then they are served by the adults. We have games, entertainment such as puppets, karaoke, stick-team performances. The kids go home with candy (prizes from the games)and a full stomach. We used to have it on the Wednesday night before Valentine’s Day, but this year we had it on a Saturday night and the kids could invite their friends, and the parents could have a date night. A good time was had by all.

What is Christmas all about?

What is Christmas all about?

Puppet play for Christmas.

When I do puppet plays, I usually record the script beforehand – using different ‘character’ voices, and then play it back while children operate the (glove) puppets. This way I am able to ‘watch’ the entire group, and also have a puppet/human dialogue if required. For this play, you will need one animal (I use a sheep) and four ‘human’ puppets. Write the word Christmas on a large piece of paper, and display it in a prominent position. » I want to read more! »

Adopt-a-Grandparent

Adopt-a-Grandparent

Partner with a local nursing home for each child to adopt a Grandparent. Each child first goes to the nursing home to meet their assigned “Adoptive Grandparent”, then sends cards, letters, etc during the year to their AG. Take children to local grocers, Wal-mart etc during the Christmas Season to carol to customers. Allow the children to pass out candy canes with the Candy Cane Story on them along with your church information (location, etc.).
