What to Pray About – Lesson with Lota Bowl

What to Pray About – Lesson with Lota Bowl

Needed: lota bowl, bucket, water
We need to be praying all throughout the day, a whole lot more than what we do. Ephesians 6:18 says, "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints." Sometimes, though, you may not take much time in prayer because you don’t know what to pray about. Let’s say you start to pray, (Pour first time.) and pray only for what you need–like help on a test a school or healing from your cold. That might take you about 5 minutes. Then you think, "Now I’m stuck. » I want to read more! »

Prayer is Strength – Gospel Illusion

Prayer is Strength – Gospel Illusion

With the US having the National Day of Prayer this week, here is a lesson on prayer.

Here’s a picture of an average boy. He looks like he is having the time of his life with that giant ice cream cone. How many of you would like to have one of those right now? Little does he realize that things aren’t going as well as he thinks. On his way home from the ice cream stand, he will face a lot of dangers. First, he may be tempted to » I want to read more! »

Prayer is Talking and Listening

Prayer is Talking and Listening

Item Needed: phone
Most anyone you ask can tell you that they have prayed at some time, even if they aren’t Christians. But even many people who are Christians do not really know what prayer is all about. For most people prayer is just something you do when you are in a crisis and need something. That is not what prayer is at all. Scripture shows us that God expects us to pray all throughout the day. (Psalm 55:17 – Evening, morning, and at noon will I pray.) You aren’t going to have a crisis all day every day, so that isn’t prayer. Some Christians think prayer is just to ask for things. That isn’t true either. Here I have a phone. Let’s pretend that this phone represents prayer. (Temporarily set it out of site.) Let me dramatize an event for you. » I want to read more! »

VBS Miracle

VBS Miracle

Last summer at Vacation Bible School we “Took the Plunge” with Jesus, and what an amazing adventure it was. It wasn’t amazing because of the curriculum, the worship, the team, or the kids. Each of these things were really cool, but the truly amazing part was that God used our little kids to do something crazy for HIS glory.

We challenged the kids to be faithful with the small things God had provided them with so that He could bless them with amazing things. We challenged 100 children to bring their spare change before God’s feet each day to see how He worked. Our goal was $8,000 in one week so that we could buy several water filtration systems to send to Liberia, Africa. » I want to read more! »

Children’s Ministry or Entertainment?

Children’s Ministry or Entertainment?

Over the years we have seen new ideas incorporated into children’s ministry such as; games, multi media, and technology at the expense of watering down the gospel message.

We use most of these methods during our Jubilee Gang events. However, the purpose of our events are not to just entertain and wow the children, but to lay a firm foundation from the word of God that they can build upon to strengthen their faith in Jesus. » I want to read more! »

Strength From Being Together

Strength From Being Together

Items Needed: thread, scissors

So why do we come to church anyways? What’s the point? We come to church to be together, to help each other, and to get strength. We get strength from being together. I need a volunteer to help me demonstrate this. I need you to put the inside of your wrists flat against each other.

(Cut off one piece of thread.) This one piece of thread is going to represent just one of you.

(Tie once around child’s wrists.) » I want to read more! »
