This Little Light of Mine – Scientific Object Lesson

This Little Light of Mine – Scientific Object Lesson

The Mad Scientist Presents: MAD ABOUT JESUS: Scientific Object Lessons to Teach Biblical Truths By Daniel A. Briere

Object Lesson 4: “This Little Light of Mine”

LESSON:

We all need to let the light of Jesus shine to show others how Jesus has transformed our lives, for only together can we fulfill God’s plan.

SUMMARY:

We all need to let the light of Jesus shine. If we let it extinguish, we become more susceptible to worldly things coming in to fill the void. The same is true in science. A lit candle that sits is a pool of water is extinguished when a vase is placed over it. The loss of the flame (heat) creates a void that is filled by the rising water. But having this light is not enough to fulfill God’s plan, for many are needed to provide sufficient power to change the world. The same is true for science. This is called synergism and can be demonstrated using both a rubber ball and a bag experiment. » I want to read more! »

Ticket to Heaven Story

Ticket to Heaven Story

There was a boy named Randy that was sitting in church, and heard a lesson alot like the one we just had. After church he went to his teacher and said that he wanted to be saved. So they prayed together and Randy asked Jesus to come into his heart and forgive Him for his sins. After they prayed, the teacher folded a piece of paper. (While you’re talking, fold the top corner down to the opposite edge of the paper. Do the same with the other top corner, making the paper look like a house. » I want to read more! »

APT for Volunteers! (Appreciation Plus Training!)

APT for Volunteers! (Appreciation Plus Training!)

We don’t have very many volunteers in our children’s ministry right now, so I came up with the following idea to try and recruit volunteers while making the present ones feel appreciated. Each month I have scheduled a Super Saturday event for the kids (usually the last Saturday of the month). On the same Saturdays, I have planned what I call APT Meetings for our volunteers. Super Saturday always starts at 11AM and includes lunch, and APT always starts at 6PM and includes dinner. » I want to read more! »

Putting God First in Your Devotional Life

Putting God First in Your Devotional Life

(Permission granted to reproduce for local church use.)

1. PERIOD (an interval of time that is meaningful) for listening, praising, sharing personal requests with the Lord

Unless you schedule a regular time with the Lord, how easy it is to neglect it. It doesn’t make any difference if it is morning, evening or some time in between. For some people, early morning is best, before outside impressions have a chance to clutter the blotters of their minds. » I want to read more! »

Faith of a Mustard Seed – Scientific Object Lesson

Faith of a Mustard Seed – Scientific Object Lesson

The Mad Scientist Presents: MAD ABOUT JESUS: Scientific Object Lessons to Teach Biblical Truths By Daniel A. Briere

Object Lesson 3: “The Faith of a Mustard Seed”

LESSON:

Our faith in God is only as strong as our faith in the bible as God’s word.

SUMMARY:

In this exercise, several unbelievable tasks will be performed that will be viewed as miraculous. These include opening a banana and finding it already peeled, submerging a hand in a jar of water and pulling it out completely dry, and using a playing card to prevent water spilling out of a glass of water even when completely turned upside-down and the card removed. However, these tasks are but tricks of science. The miraculous events in the Bible, though, are true miracles, that by definition exceed scientific explanation. The belief that these biblical events occurred as written in the bible is pivotal to building a connection to God; our faith in God is only as strong as our faith in the bible as God’s word. » I want to read more! »

What Is Rebus? – Scripture Picture Puzzles – Making Memory Verses Fun!

What Is Rebus? – Scripture Picture Puzzles – Making Memory Verses Fun!

Rebus is the art of putting words into the form of pictures. (You may recall the old TV game show, Classic Concentration, which used a similar principle.) It’s an excellent way to make scripture memorization fun and exciting by changing the typical rote scripture memorization into a mind challenging kids’ game. The puzzles are not only educational, but entertaining as well! One may use a picture of a bee to represent the word ‘be.’ » I want to read more! »

Prayer Book

Prayer Book

Take individual photos of the children in your class or children’s church. Create a label with each child’s name and birthday on it and attach the label to the front of the child’s photo. Mount the photos in a photo book. I used a small book with individual plastic sleeves designed to hold the pictures. It may take several weeks for you to get a picture of each child in your ministry, but keep at it! Add new photos to your book as you can. You now have your very own prayer book! Daily, page through the pictures and pray over each child by name. Expect God to do wonderful things in your ministry as you pray for the children He has given into your care! by Greg Lichi

Even Little People Can Do BIG Things – Scientific Object Lesson

The Mad Scientist Presents: MAD ABOUT JESUS: Scientific Object Lessons to Teach Biblical Truths By Daniel A. Briere

Object Lesson 2: "Even Little People Can Do BIG Things"

LESSON:

Even the smallest Christian can make a big impact on the world through the strength received from prayer.

SUMMARY:

Just as David was able to defeat Goliath, so even the smallest person can out perform the biggest person in a competition to shoot Diet Coke out of a 2-liter, showing that no matter how big or small we are, we can accomplish great things with the help from God realized through prayer. » I want to read more! »

Simple and Hard – Concepts for Clowning

Simple and Hard – Concepts for Clowning

Here’s a basic concept. Clowns make the simple hard, and the hard simple. Incorporate this concept in your performances and you’ll gain wonderful response. Make the simple hard, and the hard simple. Many clowns in the United States seem to be totally satisfied with only making the simple hard! They fail and fail and fail. Their stupidity is clear. Honestly, the audience doesn’t want to see you fail again and again and then watch you walk out hopeless. They want to see you succeed!
